PCIC Award Nomination and Selection Procedure

Purpose:
To recognize dedicated technical contributions to the Petroleum and Chemical Industry Committee.
Nominated by (PCIC Subcommittee): PCIC Technical Subcommittees, Approved by A&A
Selection Criteria:
- Long-term participation and contributions through a combination of any of the following:
- Authoring or sponsoring papers for presentation
- Presenting tutorials
- Serving as a Technical Subcommittee officer
- Completing paper reviews
- Contributions to Standards development
- Contributions to Transactions and IAS Magazine publications
- Persons nominated within 3 years of the award year do not need to be re-nominated
Restrictions:
- Past recipients of the PCIC David C Azbill Award are not eligible.
- Past recipients of IEEE/IAS level technical awards are not eligible. Examples include:
- IEEE Richard Harold Kaufmann Award – for outstanding contributions in industrial systems engineering
- IEEE Standards Medallion – for major contributions to the development of standards
- IEEE Charles Proteus Steinmetz Award – for outstanding contributions to the development and/or advancement of standards in electrical and electronics engineering
- IEEE Nikola Tesla Award – for outstanding contributions to the generation and utilization of electric power
- IAS Outstanding Achievement – for outstanding contribution in the application of electricity to industry in accordance with the scope of the IEEE Industry Applications Society
- Previous recipients not eligible
Type of Award (Plaque, Framed Certificate):
- Engraved plaque provided by Awards Nominating Subcommittee
- Award recipient and guest(s) are invited to sit at the designated award recipient tables
- Award recipient may request additional guest tickets to attend the PCIC Conference Annual Awards Luncheon
Presentation: PCIC Conference Annual Awards Luncheon by the Technical Program Subcommittee Chair (PCIC Vice Chair)
Award Recipient Acceptance Speech: None

- Officers (Chair, Vice Chair and Secretary) of the PCIC Technical Subcommittees
- Officers of Technical Program Subcommittee (PCIC Vice Chair, PCIC Secretary)
Nomination & Selection Process:
- The Technical Program Subcommittee Chair (PCIC Vice Chair) solicits nominations for the Outstanding Technical Contributions Award from the officers of the Technical Subcommittees (Chemical, Electrochemical & Emerging Technologies, International, Marine, Production, Refining, Safety and Transportation).
- Once nominations are submitted, the Technical Program Subcommittee Chair (PCIC Vice Chair) sends a ballot to each of the Technical Subcommittee Chairs. A followup teleconference may be held with the Technical Subcommittee Chairs to discuss the results and to make a final selection.
- Once a final selection is made, the Technical Program Subcommittee Chair (PCIC Vice Chair) notifies the Advisory & Awards Subcommittee Chair, PCIC Chair and Awards Nominating Subcommittee Chair of the nominee for review at the PCIC Winter meeting.
- The Advisory & Awards Subcommittee selects and approves the final award recipient at its meeting during the annual Winter Meeting.
- The Advisory & Awards Subcommittee Chair will announce award recipients at the PCIC Executive Subcommittee meeting at the annual Winter Meeting.

Advisory & Awards (A&A) Subcommittee Chair, PCIC Chair and Awards Nominating Subcommittee Chair prior to the PCIC Annual Winter Meeting
How will award recipient be notified:
The Technical Program Subcommittee Chair (PCIC Vice Chair) notifies the successful candidate, after approval by the Advisory & Awards Subcommittee.
