Outstanding Young Member Achievement Award

PCIC Award Nomination and Selection Procedure
revised: September 2019

Purpose:

To recognize extraordinary contributions to Petroleum and Chemical Industry Committee sponsored standards. This award is to recognize extraordinary contributions and is not necessarily awarded every year.

Nominated by Advisory & Awards Subcommittee

Selection Criteria:

  1. Participation and contributions through a combination of any of the following:
    1. Authoring or sponsoring papers for presentation
    2. Presenting tutorials
    3. Serving as a PCIC Technical or Administrative subcommittee officer
    4. Completing PCIC paper reviews
    5. Contributions to Standards development
    6. Contributions to Transactions and IAS Magazine publications
    7. Contributions to a local conference committee
    8. Other noteworthy contributions to the PCIC industry
  1. Persons 35 years and younger nominated within 3 years of the award year do not need to be re-nominated. A nomination remains in effect for three years as long as the nominee is 35 years of age or younger.
  2. Person shall be a member of IEEE of any grade.
  3. Person shall be a member of IAS.

Restrictions:

  1. Recipients shall be thirty-five years old or younger as of July 1 in the year of the award.
  2. Previous PCIC Outstanding Young Professional Achievement Award recipients are not eligible

Type of Award: The recipient shall receive an engraved plaque provided by Awards Nominating Subcommittee along with:

  1. One complimentary PCIC Conference registration to be used within two years of the award.
  2. Two complimentary PCIC Conference half day tutorials to be used within two years of the award.

Complimentary registration and tutorials are nontransferable and can only be used by the award recipient.

Presentation:

  1. PCIC Conference Annual Awards Luncheon by the PCIC Chair.
  2. Award recipient and guest(s) are invited to sit at the designate award recipient tables.
  3. Award recipient may request additional guest tickets to attend the PCIC Conference Annual Awards Luncheon.

Award Recipient Acceptance Speech: No

Nominating Committee Members:

  1. Awards Nominating Chair – Chair of Nominating Committee
  2. Awards Nominating Subcommittee Vice Chair
  3. YEDS Chair and Vice Chair
  4. Previous recipients of the OYPA Award, and others at the discretion of the Awards Nominating Chair

Nomination & Selection Process:

  1. The Awards Nominating Subcommittee Chair solicits nominations (using the nomination form) due December 31 ahead of the next PCIC Winter Meeting. (Any IEEE member may submit a nomination to the Awards Nominating Chair.)
  2. The Awards Nominating Subcommittee Chair prepares a list of the submitted nominees to be reviewed at the annual PCIC Winter Meeting.
  3. The Awards Nominating Subcommittee reviews, ranks and selects the top nominee for the award.
  4. The ranked nominees list and the proposed award recipient will be provided to the Advisory and Awards Subcommittee (A&A) for final selection during the annual Winter Meeting.
  5. The OYPA award does not necessarily need to be awarded each year.
  6. The PCIC Advisory & Awards Subcommittee Chair will announce the award recipient at the PCIC Executive Subcommittee meeting at the annual Winter Meeting

Advisory & Awards (A&A) Subcommittee Chair and PCIC Chair after Awards Nominating Winter Meeting.

Award Notification: The PCIC Chair notifies the successful candidate, after approval by the Advisory & Awards Subcommittee.
